Sonetni Venez is a custom typeface for the project Nacija-Kultura (nation minus culture), developed by artist Vuk Ćosić and exhibitied at @mgplusmsum. Letterforms are digitalised from the first printed edition of Sonetni venec (A Wreath of Sonnets) from 1834. Lead letters were pressed into paper and formed variety of shapes, therefore we developed 5 alternate shapes for each letter. Alternative forms of letters alternate according to the position of letter in the word / sentence.
In accordance with the concept of the Nation – Culture project, the typeface is used to generate a new-age sonnets from Twitter posts by Slovenian politicians.
